European universities have a wide range of programs. You can choose a country based on where the subject you want to study is the most developed.

Europe has hundreds of scholarships that offer full and partial funding. There are government, regional, university-based, and corporate scholarships.

Most scholarships are merit-based so you have a high chance of getting one if you have good academic performance, sports, and any other non-academic achievements, or work experience. There are more scholarships for Master's programs than for Bachelor's. Some universities may sponsor up to 90% of the tuition of Ph.D. programs.

Scholarships may cover expenses partially and in full. The majority of European universities offer one of these programs:

• full coverage of tuition fees and living expenses
• full coverage of tuition fees
• partial coverage of tuition fees

Some examples of scholarships you can apply for:

• Erasmus Mundus — a scholarship program for Master's students that cover up to 100% of tuition fees, health insurance, accommodation, and travel costs
• DAAD — a scholarship awarded by the German Academic Exchange Service for any discipline
• Finduddannelse.dk Sustainability Scholarship — a scholarship awarded by the Danish platform for lifelong learning, you can study anywhere in the world

Generally speaking, applicants must provide the following:

• Official transcripts of your previous studies
• GPA — the rules for calculating GPA may differ depending on the country. Your counselor will guide you.
• CV
• Letter of motivation
• 2 letters of recommendation

You can also provide your portfolio, financial plan, or essays (optional).
The application fee is around €30 at most universities.

The cost of living depends on the country and city.
Countries where the monthly cost of living is around €700-800:

European universities offer programs in English and in the state language. The majority of international students study in English-taught programs and additionally take language courses to learn the local language.

Education in some European countries is free. For example, you can study for free in the Czech Republic and Greece if your degree program is in the state language.

• the UK — £8,000-20,000 per year
• the Netherlands — €8200-14,400 per year
• Germany — from €300 per year
• France — as low as €170 at some universities (Bachelor's degrees usually cost around €2,770, Master's and Ph.D. — €3770)
• Italy — from €300 per year
• Spain — €2000-8500

In every country, there are scholarships for international students that may cover education costs fully or partially.

US citizens must have a student visa to study in Europe. Visa regualtions vary depending on the country. The general rule is that you can apply for a student visa only after you get an offer from a European university.
