If the program is in French, you'll need to take a TCF-DAP or TCF-TP test, or a DELF or DALF exam.
Cost of tuition
The majority of French universities are financed by the state, and education there is free. You just need to pay a contribution to the social insurance fund (around 211 euros per year) and a registration fee. However, most budget programs at French universities are not taught in English (but you can find some!)

Cost of tuition in the majority of French universities in 2021:
- €2770 for a Bachelor's degree
- €3770 for a Master's degree

Student visa
Features of a French student visa:

You can send an application for a long-term student visa to a visa center no earlier than 3 months before your studies start.
Among the documents required for a visa are documents showing you have enough money to live in France (at least €615 per month in your first year of study).
You need to register on the OFII site within 3 months of arriving in France to confirm your long term student visa.
COVID-19 pandemic
You shouldn't defer your admission because of the pandemic, you can travel abroad with a student visa without any issues.

The pandemic actually makes it easier to be admitted and receive grants. Students are afraid of entering university and are deferring their education, meaning there's less competition for places.

Many universities are currently continuing work remotely, with the exception of practical work. This may differ depending on the university, look for up-to-date information on a specific university's website.
